Growing up my father always made us Rigatoni. He said it was "the best in the world." Well Dad, I think this recipe even beats yours! This is the perfect meal to make for the family or if you want to be the rockstar of your next potluck.


  • 1 ½ lb. spicy Italian sausage
  • 1 lb. ground beef, 80% lean
  • 1 lb. of high quality rigatoni
  • 1 jar of Rao’s tomato sauce
  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 1 cup fresh grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup of whole milk or heavy cream
  • fresh basil for garnish


  1. In a large sauce pan or dutch oven, add olive oil to medium heat.

  2. Place the spicy Italian sausage and the ground beef into the pot and break it up into small pieces.

  3. Continue to cook the meat until it reduces down and becomes brown, cooked all the way through.

  4. Add in the tomato sauce, combine all the ingredients and reduce heat to a simmer.

  5. Meanwhile, boil a pot of water and add a pinch of salt and a touch of olive oil.

  6. Place the pasta in the water and boil until the pasta is cooked slightly al dente. Give the pasta a stir to avoid it sticking together.

  7. Once the pasta has cooked, strain and add to the sauce.

  8. Remove the pot from the stove and add in the frozen peas, cream, parmesan.

  9. Stir and combine all of the ingredients.

  10. Garnish with basil and enjoy!
